Leine & Linde Encoder for Harsh Environments Adds PROFINET, Particularly Useful for Automation of Heavy Equipment

SCHAUMBURG, IL–(Marketwired – February 09, 2016) – The Leine & Linde 900 rotary encoders series provides absolute position measurements needed in equipment used in harsh environments such as steel, oil & gas, transportation and construction industries. The latest addition to this product family is the PROFINET interface which has found broad application in the automation of heavy equipment.

The inductive scanning principle used within the Leine & Linde 900 series is known for enduring conditions like high temperatures, moisture, vibration and shock, without compromising on resolution and accuracy. The new PROFINET interface expands upon the existing EnDat, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP™, EtherCAT and DRIVE-CLiQ interfaces, and allows integration with a wide range of automation systems.

The 900 series supports a variety of mechanical interfaces as well, including taper and keyed shafts, a hollow shaft with keyway, and incorporates bearings twice the size of similar encoders on the market.

The 900 series PROFINET is also available with dual output for achieving both absolute and incremental signals, supporting a wide range of control system interfaces.

Leine & Linde is based in Sweden with exclusive North American distribution through HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION in Schaumburg, IL. Leine & Linde is well known for offering high quality, heavy duty encoders of both the incremental and absolute types, and are noted for their product robustness and design to cope with the harshest of environments, such as those with high vibration, dirt and cold temperatures. These heavy, severe duty encoders are suited for drive and measurement applications and are often found in industries such as pulp and paper, forest and wood processing, agriculture, aggregate and mining equipment.
