A prefeasibility study (PFS) into the Pilgangoora lithium/tantalum project, in Western Australia, has confirmed that the project could support a stand-alone two-million-tonne-a-year operation, delivering 330 000 t/y of 6% spodumene concentrate and 274 000 lb/y of tantalite.
The PFS estimated that based on the current mine reserves of 29.5-million tonnes, the project would have a mine life of 15 years, with further growth expected from the 15 000 m drilling campaign currently under way as part of definitive feasibility study work.
