Poland has fired the head of coal mining group Kompania Weglowa (KW) at a critical moment in management’s negotiations with trade unions over hotly contested cost cuts. The Energy Ministry, which oversees the power and mining industries, said Krzysztof Sedzikowski would be temporarily replaced by Tomasz Rogala, who will continue the talks with workers and with potential investors in KW.
