Despite significantly lower platinum group metals (PGMs) basket prices during the second quarter of the year, Sylvania Platinum on Thursday posted a double-digit rise in revenue and achieved its lowest operating cost in six years. The low-cost PGM processor and developer reported a revenue increase of 10% in dollar terms to $9.7-million and 20% in rand terms to R137.4-million, despite an 11% decrease in the gross basket price from $879/oz in the first quarter to $785/oz for the three months to December.
