BURLINGTON, MA and LITTLETON, MA–(Marketwired – February 23, 2016) –  Haley & Aldrich, an engineering and environmental consulting firm, and Triumph Modular, a leading specialty contractor for modular classrooms and other buildings, today announced that Triumph has selected Haley & Aldrich to train its entire workforce in Lean practices. The transformation is being funded through a Workforce Training Grant that Triumph was awarded from the Massachusetts Baker-Polito administration. Together with Haley & Aldrich, Triumph Modular has initiated its Lean transformation, which is enabling it to improve efficiency, ensure a safer workplace and ultimately provide greater value to customers.

In December 2015, Massachusetts awarded close to $9M in workforce training grants to build skilled labor and drive economic development across the Commonwealth. Triumph Modular was granted $106,447, which it will match to train its workers as well as bring the benefits of Lean into the construction industry.

Triumph began working with Haley & Aldrich on its Lean journey in the summer of 2015. Together, the companies used a Lean approach in Triumph Modular’s warehouse/leasing operations to visually organize the workspace for efficiency, safety and effectiveness. The two companies are now extending Lean principles into Triumph’s administrative departments. Eventually they plan to continue this effort into the field with Triumph’s project management team supporting independent construction subcontractors. Through its Lean journey, Triumph Modular has already been able to create a common language and systematic approach to change by engaging employees to collaborate on solving problems. This cultural change is especially useful in the construction industry where multiple employees and contractors must communicate and collaborate to ensure building projects are completed on time and on budget.
