JSE-listed Wescoal has been granted a 20-year water-use licence for its opencast Khanyisa colliery, in Mpumalanga. The licence, issued by the Department of Water and Sanitation, was effective immediately; however, the company still required additional regulatory consents from the Department of Mineral Resources before mining activities could start.
