Description
China Garden's Gold is an excellent find on Walker River. The river runs almost the length of the Claim! The river has decent bedrock for most of the Claim, and is extremely clear, like glass most of the year. A good portion cuts through bedrock. In addition to the Lode Claims, which are the life's blood of a successful Placer Claim on the water, that have been worked upstream, and around the entire area, (some dating dating back to the Gold Rush era days, and more recently worked), you will have a great chance at finding Gold traps within the river on this Claim. There is also some gravel beds, and rocks along the edge and throughout the water on the Claim. During the spring this river normally fills up with water, from the winters snow melt, so you get new material, year after year to work that has washed down stream.. If working water is what you like to do, then this is an excellent claim. Our understanding is that there has been some sizable nuggets found within this river due to the location and the past activity of mining.
History
This area has many Lode Claims that are/have been worked in the surrounding mountains/hills along the river that date as far back as the Gold Rush Era and more recently worked. Some sizable nuggets to our understanding was found in this river. With the Lode Claims, from prior worked tunnels, the Tailings left behind have yielded over 6 ounces a ton. There are many Claims that had Ore processed through out the years.
