My family has decided to sell our mining operation located by road approx. 2.5 hrs from Fairbanks. We have successfully mined the claims since 2009 and will no longer travel to Alaska because of family health issues. The Shirley Bar Claims consist of over 2000 acres of State mining claims and include the famous Shirley Bar. They are located about 2.5 hours by highway from Fairbanks and 20 miles by highway from Manley Hot Springs. The claims also have their own airstrip and hanger. The mining season begins in mid May and continues thru mid October. The mine produces large nuggets. In the past two years, several nuggets over 5 ounces have been recovered and a previous owner found a 28 ounce nugget. In the past 3 years gold recovery with a 40 yard per hour plant ranged from .5 oz per hour up to 6 oz per hour. An RMS Ross derocker was purchased in 2013. Now, with both the trommel and derocker running, the washing capacity is about 130 yards per hour. The gold is everywhere on these claims but there are very hot spots. Recovery since 2009 have ranged from .016 oz per yard to .25 oz per yd. Previous owner claimed to have recovered 1000 oz in one day.
