Boys and I hiked down to base of very powerful waterfall and had good success finding specs of gold by panning in the calmer pools along creek. Waterfall is big. Hike to bottom of falls requires careful footing, use good mule. Chances of seeing another individual during mining operations is essentially zero as visibility from forest service road is none and waterfall drowns out all mining camp noise. Panning is best in summer as water levels are lower and expose more creekline. Have seen cinnamon colored black bears, so recommend carrying a sidearm. We have posted but not filed claim. Sufficient black sand is obtained along most of creek line by digging a bit with spade shovel.

No other precious minerals but gold found.
