Good gold discovery by panning at base of rather loud and large waterfall.
Location and Access:
Lolo National Forest, Montana, USA.
Description:
Boys and I hiked down to base of very powerful waterfall and had good success finding specs of gold by panning in the calmer pools along creek. Waterfall is big. Hike to bottom of falls requires careful footing, use good mule. Chances of seeing another individual during mining operations is essentially zero as visibility from forest service road is none and waterfall drowns out all mining camp noise.
Panning is best in summer as water levels are lower and expose more creekline. Have seen cinnamon colored black bears, so recommend carrying a sidearm.
We have posted but not filed claim. Price is $5,000 if you file directly, $15,000 if I file first then transfer to you.
Geology:
Sufficient black sand is obtained along most of creek line by digging a bit with spade shovel.
No other precious minerals but gold found.
