Geology

The claims are on placer gold deposits within the drainages of Dun Glen Canyon and Auld Lang Syne Canyon.
Gold is concentrated on bedrock and on benches along the canyon sides but is present throughout the gravel. Typical depth ranges from 18 to 40 feet deep. The source of the placer gold is erosion from post-Triassic quartz veins carrying gold, silver, and sulfide minerals.

History

Placer gold in the Sierra District, which includes Dun Glen Canyon, was discovered in
the 1860s. The area saw its most significant production between 1870 and 1895, when it was worked by large crews of miners. Contemporary reports, while anecdotal, estimate that over $600 million in gold was recovered during this period, making it one of Nevada's premier placer districts. Production was concentrated in the major drainages of Auburn, Barber, and Rockhill Canyons, with Dun Glen Canyon also being a well known producer. Activity in the 20th century was more sporadic, with a resurgence of small-scale placer mining in the 1930s. There is an operating placer mine in Dun Glen Canyon less than one mile from the claims and there are several ongoing projects in the area.

Additional Information

The purchase price is $36,000 and I can sell the claims on an installment sale carried at $600/month with a 2.5% nsr instead of interest. The nsr would come into effect after production exceeds 10 ounces. The buyer will have full rights to the claims while payments are being made and title will transfer once they are completed.
