The Meluco complex is formed by P2MCgd (granodioritic gneisses), P2Mcgr (granitoid gneisses). The study area covered by license 10053 of 3089.33 hectares is located northeast of Mozambique along the Mozambique belt (HOLMES, 1951). This area is part of the Eastern Gondwana terrain, constituting part of three terrains that make up the Mozambican crystalline basement, with the other two being referred to as Western Gondwana and Southern Gondwana (GTK CONSORTIUM, 2006). As mentioned earlier, the dominant rocks in the license area belong to the Mesoproterozoic complexes of Nairoto and Meluco and the Neoproterozoic of Lalamo.
