The San Bernardo mine is a Patented 50 AC Lode mining claim in the San Miguel County. This is surrounded by National Forest land with access to the property from the highway. It has over 3 miles of drifts with stopes running between the levels. They have not been accessed or explored since 1963. There is plenty of history to discover as written in the Denver Times Dec. 25 1900, Aug.8 1901, and Aug 19 1901. This mine shows great potential with the Silver, Gold, Lead, Zinc and copper. Silver values run from 52 oz to 486 oz per ton. Gold carries from .08 to 1 oz per ton. This is a Silver Mine with lead copper and zinc, gold and silver. It was active for many years and a mill was built to run the ore.
