You can drive a high clearance vehicle directly to the main entrance and to the second adit entrance. You will need a good 4WD to reach the upper shaft. This due to incline and loose rock. The road is in excellent condition around and through the claim. There are multiple piles of tailings. Some have been processed and others have not been processed. There were no particular “high grade” piles, rather everything was separated by mineral content. Gold, Silver, Lead. A simple, turn-key operation. The mine is one large underground working with multiple entrances. The primary entrance is an adit, some slough in the form of sand from the hill above has made the entrance roughly 4? tall and 6? wide. Once inside the mine opens up to be roughly 6.5? tall and 6-10? wide in some sections. Navigating over the slough and into the mine is a breeze. Fresh air blows through the mine as a result of the two open shafts and adits. Once inside the mine opens up into a broad drift that wanders along the richer sections of the lode, opening up in large stopes where rich gold deposits were located. It was nice and cool inside the mine, a nice escape from the summer heat. The mine had multiple levels. After entering through the main tunnel we climbed a ladder up a manway to a second level. The second level had an adit to the outside that was a 45 degree angle up from the mine. From the second level 2 shafts extend to the surface; both are fully timbered. The ladders in the mine are in excellent condition. We found multiple survey markers from the 1990?s. There was excellent airflow from the 4 access points into the mine. No bad air was detected by our monitors.

Mineralization in the felsic units consists of gold, silver, lead, zinc and arsenic with minor antimony and copper. Gangue minerals include 5 to 10% quartz as remobilize white quartz veins generally perpendicular to the felsic horizons which do not generally penetrate the enclosing slates. Most of the contacts are weakly sheared with alteration intensity related to shear intensity. This shearing along conformable contacts is thought to be related to the deposition of the volcanic units.

Past production of hand sorted ore ran 1.1 opt Au, 13.1 opt As and 4.75% Pb as reported in the J.H. Farrel report of 9/1956. An additional 1200 tons of lower grade material mind in the 1940?s was processed in a failed heap leach attempt in the late 1980?s.

The underground workings were completed shortly after the discovery in 1939. The maps with assays of the two underground levels were made by I. Santos of Newhawk mining and represent the outline of the tunnels and assay locations. These maps were slightly modified to evaluate the gross geology showing the north and south dipping mineralized zones. The south dipping zone matches well with the regional strike and dip of the felsic horizon in the surface mapping. The north dipping zone, which was the most productive. may be a separate horizon not seen on the surface.

The Twin Buttes Mine was discovered in 1939 and produced 658 tons of hand sorted ore. Smelter returns were 731 ounces gold, 8638 ounces silver, and 31 tons of lead. Approximately 1200 tons of material was stockpiled. This mining resulted in about 1500 feet of underground development on two main levels and one sublevel. The mine was idle in the early 1950?s with surface exploration activity commencing again in the 1980?s. Trenching and sampling were conducted at this time extending the zone to a total of 1300 feet in an ENE direction. In 1997, Newhawk Mining reviewed the property with mapped and sampling of the underground workings. The property has not been drilled.
