Twin Buttes Mining Claim
Gold and Silver Claim For Sale
Summary
The Twin Buttes Mine, located near Lovelock, Nevada, was first discovered in 1939 and produced 658 tons of hand sorted ore. From this ore the miners returned 731 ounces of gold, 8638 ounces of silver and 31 tons of lead. The mining resulted in 1500+ ' of underground development on two main levels and one sub-level. The mine was idle in to the early 1950s. In the mid 1980s, the claims were leased to a surface operation who trenched and sampled the area, reporting average values of 1.3 ounces gold and 14+ ounces of silver per ton.
We were able to get inside and explore the workings. After entering through the main tunnel we climbed a ladder up a manway to a second level. From the second level 2 shafts extend to the surface; both are fully timbered. Outside the mine there is a 1942 15-ton gravity concentrator. The mine is a sweet part of Nevada's rich mining heritage.
