Drilled by the US Bureau of Mines and extensively sampled ~18 million tonnes graded 0.08% Total Rare Earth Oxides (TREO), samples average 0.003 oz/ton gold (up to 0.1 oz/ton). Exploration was done by government geologists who were more general assessment focused. Company exploration focused on finding an orebody/mine will likely find higher grades. Heavy-mineral concentrates from some of the higher grade samples contained 38.3% ilmenite, 8.7% monazite, 4.0% magnetite, 0.2% zircon, and 48.8%other impurities. Reportedly another 32 million tonnes of inferred resources. Ilmenite accounts for up to 38% of concentrates will further enhance the value of the deposit. One of the largest gold-REE deposits in the United States.

Paleoplacer deposit with a combination of loose and cemented conglomerate material. Detrital monazite is concentrated in the conglomerate near the base of the Deadwood Formation, overlying the Precambrian granite. A high-grade stratum developed during the drilling program of the Bureau of Mines contained 675,000 tons of conglomerate averaging 13.2. pounds of monazite per ton. The average thorium content of the monazite was 8.8%, which is higher than usual domestic and international sources. Ilmenite accounts for up to 38% of concentrates will further enhance the value of the deposit.
The highest concentrations of gold are found where gravity has concentrated deposits in the northern project area, particularly in and near Half Ounce Gulch.
