Location and Access

4WD pickup truck accessible via dirt Forest Service RD approximately 5 miles from Taylor Trading Post. The Forest Service RD goes right thru the claim making it easier to launch a dredge into the stream without the need for long hikes and carrying equipment great distances. The town of Tincup is located about 60 minutes from the town of Gunnison, Colorado. With access to the town/claim from Gunnison being via Almont Canyon.

The claim is at around 10,00 feet above sea level and the accessible mining season generally runs from May - October depending upon snow conditions. From November to April the claim is only accessible via snow machine.

Located in the Tincup Mining District of Gunnison County, Colorado. The Cross Creek 004 unpatented placer mining claim provides a great place for a dredging operation.

Geology

The stream has been draining a free milling gold vein system upstream in what's called the Wahl lode. This provides excellent gold values and the gold itself is not to water worn as it has not traveled very far.

History

Upstream from the Cross Creek 004 Claim lies numerous hard rock mines that were developed in the late 1800's such as the well documented Cross Mountain & Wahl mines that produced gold and silver with additional base metals of copper, iron, and lead.

This hard rock mining zone of mineralization is believed to be the main source of the gold deposition found on the Cross Creek 004 Placer.

Knowing the source of where the alluvial gold deposits initially originated from is superior information that the creeks below the mineralized vein structures have commercially viable qualities of Gold, Silver, and lead. Cross Creek is the main creek draining the lode sources and has proven to hold quality mineralization. Further, alluvial testing confirmed the presence of Gold, Silver, and Lead.

Tincup General Area Info
The Tincup area is great for a summer getaway. Quality dispersed camping sites are found in the general area that can accommodate a large fifth wheel and all your toys. Taylor Res is located about 10 miles downstream and hosts great fishing and water recreation during the summer.
There is a restaurant in Tincup that is open during the summer. ATV & UTV riding is extremely popular with a large amount of trails active in the region.

Mirror lake is also close by for further water sport and hiking activities.

Taylor River is a great designated trout fishing stream with miles of open creek access.
