Gold and Silver Project w/ High Grade Historical Resource
Extensively sampled, 0.34-0.40 oz/ton Au, up to 53 oz/ton Ag
Summary
Location and Access
The Spring Creek Gold project is located in the Spring Creek Mining District in the northern end of the Sierra Ancha Mountains, Gila County, Arizona. The property is situated approximately 8 miles from Young, Arizona, and 88 road miles from Globe.
Description
Geology
The project targets multiple quartz-filled fissure veins within a host rock of Pinal Schist of Algonkian age. The vein system generally strikes North 60° East with steep dips of 80° to vertical. The veins are lenticular in habit, varying in width from a few inches to bulges of four feet wide.
Metals contained within the veins include gold, silver, lead, and copper. The vein matter consists of quartz, limonite, cerussite, and copper carbonates in the oxide zone, transitioning to sulphides including pyrite, chalcopyrite, and galena at depth. Mineralization consists of lenticular ore shoots constituted by a widening of the vein to minable widths.
Extensive sample records of the vein system are available upon request.
History
The property was a consistent producer between 1926 and 1931, operated by entities including the Spring Creek Leasing Co. and Carolan & McAuliffe. Extensive smelter settlement sheets from the El Paso Smelting Works during this period document regular shipments of high-grade ore, including lots running 2.55 oz/ton gold, 2.76 oz/ton gold, and 3.15 oz/ton gold.
Development includes a main tunnel driven approximately 700 feet, with the south vein exposed in cuts and short tunnels for an additional distance of 500 feet. Underground workings include drifts, crosscuts, and a winze sunk on the main vein.
In 1981, the property was optioned by Nicky Brite Mines Inc. (financed by Silver Bullet Company). This program focused on cleaning up old workings and preparing for production. Work included extracting 300 tons of ore from a raise in Tunnel “A”, refitting a secondary escape route with ladders to Tunnel “B”, relaying ore tracks, and installing air and water pipes. These modern efforts confirmed the high-grade nature of the vein system and accessibility of the ore shoots.
