Location and Access

Lemhi County, Idaho.

Description

The Blue Spring cobalt claim group is along a copper-cobalt zone along the southeast projection of the Blackbird belt. The claims total 82 acres.
It is underlain by heavily fractured quartzite. Along the fractures are quartz and cobalt bloom.
The cobalt is associated with tourmalinized quartzite similar to the Haynes-Stillite mine. The cobalt bloom is a result of oxidation of the cobalt sulfide introduced into the country rock.
This prospect was owned by Penn-Idaho Mines, Inc in the 1950s. They did chip sampling in 1958. The results are available but have yet to be located.

The claims are located directly north of Century Cobalt’s holdings and about 5.5 miles from the Jervois's Blackbird mine. The only cobalt mine in the US.
