6,493 contiguous acres on Vancouver Island with multiple targets, $6M+ in drilling.
Over $6M in drilling (Noranda, Cominco, Better, others) over 30 years has delineated at least two large tonnage Au-Ag-Cu deposits hosted within this claim group.
Drill core from Murex deposit assays up to 21 g/t gold, 161 g/t silver, 9.7% copper, 6.4% zinc, and 0.14% molybdenum.
Drill core from Oyster deposit assays up to 13.2 g/t gold, 626 g/t silver, and 2.67% copper
Road accessible.
Location and Access:
British Columbia, Canada.
Description:
The Mt. Washington/Connie Hill Property is located on Vancouver Island, approximately 15 kilometres northwest of Courtenay in southwestern British Columbia, and covers 2,629 contiguous hectares (6,493 acres). The property extends from Constitution Hill and Wolf Lake southwest towards Mount Washington, and includes several zones of mineralization for 10 kilometres along Murex Creek to Mt. Washington, including the Lupus, Ideal, Murex, Oyster, and the southern portion of the Domineer deposits at Mount Washington.
Geology:
Murex Zone
The Murex zone (MINFILE 092F 206) is on the northeast slope of Mt. Washington, and represents an area of mineralization covering approximately 700 by 700 metres, with an estimated depth of 175 metres. It has been previously tested by a number of diamond-drill holes, with a 4 metre section of core assaying 4.08 per cent copper, 32.91 g/t silver and 6.31 g/t gold (MINFILE 092F 206).
A National Instrument 43-101 Technical Report (AR 30010) released in 2008 documents extensive drilling and development on the Mt. Washington project over the course of several decades until 1992, when the bottom fell out of the metals market and mine development in the area came to virtual halt. Included in the report is an exhaustive history of development at the Murex and Oyster zones, delineated by outcrop and trench mapping and sampling, and as many as 45 drill holes. A total of five zones have been identified within the Murex deposit, labeled Zones A, B, C, D, and E. Overall, the best assays from the Murex as documented in AR 30010 shows 21 g/t gold, 161 g/t silver, 9.7% copper, 6.4% zinc, and 0.14% molybdenum.
Oyster Zone
The Oyster claims (MINFILE 092F 365) are situated approx 3 km north of Mt. Washington. A grab sample of silicified fault breccia assayed 14.50 g/t gold, 31.88 g/t silver, 1.04% lead and 0.05% zinc (Assessment Report 17193). Drilling and sampling documented in Assessment Report 30010 shows the highest assays as 13.2 g/t gold, 626 g/t silver, and 2.67% copper.
Connie Hill
Various known prospects over a wide area between Murex Creek and Wolf Lake, from east of Mt. Washington to Constitution Hill. Prospecting has resulted in chip samples assaying as high as 4.35 oz/t gold and 2.7 oz/t silver. The Lupus zone (MINFILE 092F 308 ) on Constitution Hill, adjacent to Wolf Lake, has assayed up to 2.7 ounces per tonne gold and 5.7 ounces per tonne silver.
Adjacent projects
The Lakeview/Domineer epithermal deposits (MINFILE 092F 116) adjacent to the claims are due west of the Murex zone. It has a defined strike length of 1.5 kilometres and an average width of 61 metres. According to BC Assessment Report 18472, drill indicated reserves at the Domineer stand at 606,600 tons grading 0.197 oz/ton gold and 0.94 oz/ton silver. It includes the underground portion, with a cut-off of 0.1 oz/ton gold, and the open pitable reserves, with a cut off of 0.05 oz/ton gold.
Regional Projects
The Myra Falls mine (MINFILE 092F 073) is located approximately 28 km southwest of Mt. Washington. The current owner/operator, Nyrstar, reports concentrate production in 2011 of 36,000 tonnes of zinc, 4,200 tonnes of copper, 800 tonnes of lead, 12,400 troy ounces of gold, and 574,000 troy ounces of silver.
